Jolanda has showed a lot of passion and dedication in many areas of her life including playing water polo for Auckland and New Zealand for many years. She was also involved with coaching the Auckland schoolgirls' water polo teams, accompanying them around New Zealand for tournaments. Jolanda was a volunteer lifeguard with the United Surf Lifesaving Club and compete in many surf carnivals throughout New Zealand. She has been a paid lifeguard on the beaches in Christchurch and at the Municipal swimming pools, also teaching children to swim. She was a volunteer lifeguard with the Mangawhai Surf Lifesaving Club when first arriving in Mangawhai, now enjoying the more relaxing pastime of long boarding in nice surf. Jolanda actively relaxes by making art works which range from handcrafted pottery pieces to abstract paintings and mosaic work.
